Since moving to Southern California in recent years, I’ve been deeply inspired by the ocean and its innate ability to heal and calm the body and spirit. I started to research nutrients and flowers found in the sea and discovered how they can benefit the skin, especially with firming and toning.

Hydrabloom Body Silk was born from this inspiration, formulated with our unique Sea Flower Complex, which features a blend of sea flora and algae, packed with vitamins and minerals. It’s like having a green juice for your skin, restoring good-for-you nutrients your skin needs to thrive. Not only is our Complex nutrient-dense, but it also has firming and toning benefits.

Our love of flowers and their ability to nourish and heal the skin was central to sourcing and selecting ingredients for Hydrabloom. Floral-Obsessed

I’ve always had a deep love for florals. The way they can brighten your mood, lift your spirit, and the way they can recollect memories of people you’ve known and places you’ve been. It wasn’t until I started building SAINT JANE, and diving into clean ingredient research that I discovered just how powerful florals were for transforming the skin. Using florals to nurture, heal and pamper the skin dates back centuries and these powerful petals have been revered across the globe in so many different cultures.

For example, Cleopatra the Egyptian beauty, was said to have rose water baths regularly and cleansed her skin and body with its powerful elixir. Shakespeare has written about the queen’s beauty ritual in ‘Antony and Cleopatra’ and he even mentioned how  Cleopatra’s cedar-wood ships bore the scent of rose water. 

Helichrysum or “Immortelle” has been used since the civilization of Ancient Greece, where it was commonly used after battles to heal wounds and care for the skin. Helichrysum essential oil was mixed with honey or olive oil and applied topically to treat skin conditions like burns and scars and even respiratory and digestive issues due to its revered anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. 

So many globally renowned florals have rich histories and stories of healing and transformation like these. Our approach to skincare is inspired by and centered around these potent florals that have been used for centuries to nurture the skin. When it comes to skin care, sun protection is of the utmost importance and should be a non-negotiable part of your daily ritual. Protecting your skin from harmful UVA/UVB radiation is crucial for both anti-aging and skin cancer prevention. When choosing and applying sunscreen, there are many factors. How much should you apply? How often should you reapply? Which sunscreen is right for you? What is a mineral sunscreen? Luckily, we asked a Board-Certified Dermatologist, Dr. Nina Desai, to give us the full SPF 101 with Luxury Sun Ritual SPF 30. Dermatologists know best!

Q: What is a mineral sunscreen?

Dr. Desai: A mineral sunscreen, or a physical sunscreen, is made of either Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. These products sit on the top layer of the skin and reflect harmful UV rays, acting as a barrier between your delicate skin and the damaging effects of the sun. Mineral sunscreens are safe for everyone, even children!

Q: How much sunscreen should you apply?

Dr. Desai: “I like to recommend the “3 Finger Method” when applying sunscreen. This means you disperse enough sunscreen to cover 3 fingers. Then you apply that amount to your face and your neck. Be sure to blend thoroughly. I love Luxury Sun Ritual because it doesn’t leave a white-cast like a lot of mineral sunscreens. The unique formula blend has a slight tint, which leaves an invisible, pore-smoothing finish while also keeping the skin hydrated.”

Q: How often should you reapply sunscreen?

Dr. Desai: Regardless of if you are wearing a mineral or a chemical sunscreen, you need to reapply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours if you are out in the sun, right after swimming and if you are exercising and sweating, especially.

Q: Is Luxury Sun Ritual a Tinted Foundation?

Dr. Desai: Luxury Sun Ritual’s unique formula combines 10% Zinc Oxide with a hint of color. It’s important to know that this product is not a foundation or a color product. This is a sunscreen and the hint of color balances out the white cast often left by Zinc Oxide, without sacrificing any of the powerful sun protection benefits. 

Q: Who do you recommend Luxury Sun Ritual to?

OILY SKIN

The biggest myth of having oily skin is that you have to deprive your skin of moisturizing products. Oily skin is caused by the overproduction of sebum, and is off-balance. The solution is to work towards balancing your skin and incorporating ingredient-driven products into your routine. Two of the best balancing ingredients for oily skin types are Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol. We have two beautiful products that happen to have these balancing ingredients:

• THE C-DROPS, our gentle yet effective 10% Vitamin C serum, is the perfect solution for those with sensitive skin. Vitamin C is a highly active ingredient, and traditionally can be problematic for sensitive skin types. When we formulated The C-Drops, we included powerfully calming ingredients to counteract any harshness that Vitamin C delivers. These Vitamin C brightening drops are gentle but still very effective. 

• LUXURY BEAUTY SERUM has been a cult-favorite among our sensitive skin clients. • Hibiscus: We work with a family owned and operated Hibiscus farm in Hawaii. These beautiful flowers are antioxidant rich thanks to the volcanic rich soil indigenous to the Islands. The Hibiscus are cultivated by hand to ensure efficacy.

• Prickly Pear Oil: Native to Morocco, Prickly Pear has been revered by locals for centuries. Our oil is produced by a local company that has been in business for generations. Our partnership with this small, family operated company supports and sustains the community at large by providing jobs to thousands of people and helping to protect the land from industrial farming.

• Yeast Extract: We chose to formulate our award-winning Hydrating Petal Cream with Yeast Extract as a sustainable way of eliminating animal collagen as an ingredient while still reaping the benefits of collagen for skin.

• Fermented Algae: We’ve collaborated with an innovative French company which has discovered multiple ways of growing and harvesting sea algae in the open sea inside a private and protected sea farm where they cultivate algae - the flowers of the sea" on submerged systems to guarantee the perpetuation of the species.

Facial smoothing stones have become all the rage with aestheticians and influencers alike. In fact, you’ve probably seen them floating around your Instagram or TikTok feeds on more than one occasion. Users swear by their ability to depuff and contour the face, but you’re certainly not alone if you’ve ever looked at one and thought, “How the heck am I supposed to use this?”. Not to worry – we’ll guide you through the step-by-step process using our Obsidian Smoothing Stone coupled with Luxury Beauty Serum and Hydrating Petal Cream for the ultimate SAINT JANE facial!

Step 1 – Prep

On a freshly cleansed face, apply one full dropper of Luxury Beauty Serum. The omega-rich formula not only delivers a boost of nutrients, the oil also helps saturate the skin to ensure the best canvas for the Obsidian Smoothing Stone. The anti-inflammatory properties in the serum augments the depuffing power of the stone for your most radiant results.

Step 2 – Smooth

Using the below diagram as a guide, glide the Obsidian Smoothing Stone across your face in the directions shown using sweeping, fluid motions. Pressure, as well as direction, is important. Pressing too hard will not increase the effectiveness of the tool, instead you should think of pulling rather than pushing on the skin. Gliding the stone across your face in this manner promotes better blood circulation which in turn helps to depuff.

Start at the base of the neck and follow the arrows in upward motions as shown. Repeat each stroke 5-10 times for optimal results. Make sure to sweep the stone all the way to the outer edges of your face with each stroke.

Step 3 – Lock In The Results

As a finishing step, we love to apply Hydrating Petal Cream to lock in the benefits from steps 1 and 2. The 1% pure hyaluronic acid formula delivers hydration for plump, glowing skin while floral essences like Magnolia soften and smooth. Hibiscus seed peptides, dubbed “Nature’s Botox”, promote elastin production for firm, contoured skin.
