If you’ve tried our award-winning Hydrating Petal Cream, you know that we formulated this featherweight cream with 10 floral essences, each with their own specific benefits for skin. One of the most historically symbolic of these Luxury Active Florals is the Pink Lotus flower.
Of all the florals in our meticulously-clean formulas, the Lotus has perhaps one of the richest histories. It was revered as a symbol of purity and tranquility in several cultures. To the ancient Egyptians, it was a symbol of rebirth due to the way the flower recedes into the water at night and re-blooms fresh every morning. In Hinduism and Buddhism, the Lotus is a symbol of purity, renewal, and enlightenment. The color of the flower is also significant in Buddhist teachings, with pink being considered the ‘true lotus’ of Buddha.
The benefits of Pink Lotus in skincare are not dissimilar to the reasons it was beloved by ancient civilizations. A powerful antioxidant with anti-aging capabilities, the sacred flower is a natural fit in Hydrating Petal Cream. The lotus contains a potent amount of polyphenols and flavonoids, including Kaempferol, which is known to have the highest antioxidant level amongst 35 types of flavonoids. These help protect against free radical damage, which is a leading cause of visible premature aging. An additional benefit to preventing damage from environmental factors is that in doing so collagen and elastin production are protected, which enables the skin to remain youthful for longer.
Lotus is also a rich natural source of Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids, which gently resurface skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. By removing dead surface cells, newer, brighter skin is allowed to shine through. While the AHA content may sound unappealing to those with sensitive skin, the flower also contains many soothing properties to counteract any irritation caused by the AHAs. Lotus is a natural anti-inflammatory, which soothes redness and stressed skin. It also replenishes moisture and is naturally healing, it is even frequently used in natural medicine for wound healing.
Finally, Lotus is oil-balancing and purifying due to its ability to absorb toxins from skin and clear the complexion. It helps control sebum production without stripping skin of its natural moisture, meaning its safe to use for those with oily or acne-prone skin.

The term “clean beauty” gets thrown around a lot in our industry, but what does it actually mean? Clean beauty products are supposed to be made without ingredients shown or suspected to harm human health or the environment. The truth is, however, that government regulations in the United States regarding clean products have not caught up with those in Europe and other parts of the world. Companies are relatively free to define their own version of “clean”, which makes it all the more important that you do your own research about which products you’re bringing into your home and using on your skin.
At SAINT JANE, we have always been committed to formulating our products with clean, sacred botanicals that empower your skin. We embrace ancient ingredients and the benefits they hold, while understanding that we have a responsibility to do so sustainably. We acknowledge the ancient practices and cultures that have been using our ingredients for centuries, while taking the opportunity to modernize them in a responsible way. SAINT JANE’s formulas embody this unique collaboration between time-honored practices and traditions and modern green technology. The result is sustainably cultivated and performance-driven skincare products that nourish the skin and the soul.
When sourcing our ingredients, we employ a “glocal” approach. We partner with companies and farmers around the world to support their diverse cultures and empower their rich traditions in a modern and sustainable way with environmentally sound practices. Below are just few examples of how we source our ingredients:
In addition to thoughtfully curating our sourcing partners, we are also committed to transparency. We provide a detailed list of all ingredients used in each of our products on our website, as well as 3rd party lab testing results so you can be sure of the safety and efficacy of our products when choosing to incorporate them into your skincare routine.Continue reading
Have you ever typed into Google the words, “Can I use *insert skincare ingredient here* at the same time as *insert skincare ingredient here*.”
Yep, we thought so. We’ve all done it - pondered the mysteries of layering skincare ingredients until our heads spin. Layering can be a tricky concept that boggles the minds of even the most seasoned skincare aficionados.
SAINT JANE is here to take the guesswork out of layering our products. All of our products are packed with potent ingredients designed to complement one another and enhance their effects. Though each of our products contains enough clean actives and rich botanicals to be a full routine on its own, we’re sharing our complete suggested our nighttime layering guide below.
Step 1 - The C-Drops
As a general layering rule of thumb, you should start with the thinnest in product texture and work your way up to the heaviest. For SAINT JANE, that means The C-Drops is the first layer of your routine. Packed with a 20% glycerin-encapsulated Vitamin C blend, this powerful serum is formulated to penetrate the deepest layers of skin for maximum effectiveness. Starting with The C-Drops enables you to up your skin’s glow factor for a radiant complexion. Though Vitamin C is a potent ingredient that can sometimes cause irritation and redness as an unfortunate side effect, our formulation includes skin-soothing botanicals, for a gentle yet effective first step.
Step 2 - Hydrating Petal Cream
As the newest product in the SAINT JANE skincare arsenal, Hydrating Petal Cream has already taken its place among our can’t-live-without products. With the ultra-hydrating power of 1% pure Hyaluronic Acid combined with the smoothing capabilities of Hibiscus Peptides, Hydrating Petal Cream delivers silky smooth, hydrated skin that lasts all day. Its featherweight texture absorbs quickly and is specifically designed to never pill, making it the perfect lightweight moisturizer to layer on top of your first step. As an added bonus, it’s the perfect base for your makeup if you’re doing this routine in the morning!
Step 3 - Bright Repair Eye Cream
Somehow, our eyes seem to always be the neglected part of our skincare routine. Do we really need an entirely separate product just for this one area? The answer is an emphatic YES. The skin around our eyes is different than the rest of our face, and thus needs special care. Bright Repair Eye Cream is specifically designed to target dark circles and fine lines while protecting the integrity of our delicate eye skin. 10% Vitamin C visibly brightens while Green Tea and Grapeseed work to de-puff and knock out the intensity of dark circles for a calm, well-rested look.
Step 4 - Luxury Beauty Serum
It has been called “the face oil to end all face oils” for a reason. Our award-winning Luxury Beauty Serum is a powerful treatment packed with hundreds of nutrients designed to reverse signs of aging and calm skin. This omega-rich serum not only delivers a huge dose of soothing botanicals to skin, it also packs a punch with actives such as Sea Buckthorn and Calendula, which gently resurface and detoxify pores. Luxury Beauty Serum is our holy grail, skin-transforming powerhouse and is the ultimate final layer to seal in all of the nutrients from the previous steps.

Since Saint Jane began, using meticulously clean, natural ingredients has been one of the most important principles we’ve stood by as a brand. When developing our new Hydrating Petal Cream, we approached the formulation with the same principle in mind. Inspired by petals and their ability to retain their beauty through hydration, Hydrating Petal Cream uses the power of 10 floral essences to moisturize and smooth the skin.
While “floral essences” may sound beautiful and luxurious, and they are, their benefits go far beyond their gorgeous packaging. Each of the 10 flowers in Hydrating Petal Cream was chosen for their unique capability to aid your overall skin wellness. Let’s take a more in-depth look at the power of these hardworking botanicals.
Daisy: In addition to its ability to brighten skin, Daisy contains a combination of polyphenols which are known to suppress melanin production, which enables it to reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Frangipani: As a powerful softener, Frangipani works to soothe dry, cracked skin. The result is a more supple, toned complexion.
Full Flower Hemp: One of the most sought-after skincare ingredients, Full Flower Hemp extract is most known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It has the ability to soothe skin suffering from the effects of conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and rosacea.
Hibiscus: Known as “Nature’s Botox”, Hibiscus is an ingredient with a multitude of benefits. As a rich natural source of Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids, Hibiscus gently resurfaces and renews skin. We even devoted an entire post to this hero ingredient, which you can read here.
Honeysuckle: Honeysuckle's benefits for skin are numerous. It is a natural antibacterial agent as well as an anti-inflammatory, which means it has the ability to reduce the frequency of breakouts and calm any that occur.
Jasmine: In addition to its anti-septic properties, Jasmine hydrates and restores the skin to increase elasticity and fade scars and hyperpigmentation.
Magnolia: Magnolia has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine due to its powerful anti-inflammatory abilities. It’s also a potent antioxidant, reduces skin redness, and help prevent the loss of elasticity.
Mimosa: Mimosa is a coveted skincare ingredient for its ability to boost collagen and therefore delay skin aging. It also firms and smooths skin for a more youthful appearance.
Pink Lotus: As a rich source of Alpha-Hydroxy-Acids, Pink Lotus works to exfoliate the skin’s outer layer and allow younger cells to come to the surface. It also shrinks pores and calms red, irritated skin.
Sunflower: A potent antioxidant, Sunflower helps prevent premature signs of aging and its emollient properties protect the skin’s outer layer.
Would you believe us if we told you that despite infusing Hydrating Petal Cream with so many potent botanicals, the resulting formula is not heavy or sticky? The impossibly lightweight cream is packed with so many nutrients, you’ll quickly see why it has become a Holy Grail product!Continue reading
We don’t use the term “hero ingredient” often or lightly, but Hibiscus is justifiably a hero ingredient. As a natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and anti-aging antioxidants, Hibiscus has more than earned its “Nature’s Botox” moniker. It’s no wonder we blended potent Hibiscus Seed peptides into our new Hydrating Petal Cream.
You might be wondering what makes Hibiscus any different than other skincare ingredients that claim a myriad of benefits for your face. There are so many ingredients out there that claim to do this or fix that, it can be overwhelming trying to work them all into your routine. One of the things we love most about Hibiscus is that its potent peptides pack multiple benefits into this one ingredient.
Hibiscus is not only rich in antioxidant Vitamin C, a powerhouse skincare ingredient by anyone’s standards, it also contains anthocyanosides. Anthocyanosides neutralize free radicals, a major source of skin aging, and act as an anti-inflammatory to visibly calm stressed skin. Those with sensitive skin know how hard it can be to find a powerful skincare product that doesn’t cause irritation as an unfortunate side effect. Due to its inflammation-fighting capabilities, Hibiscus is one of the rare ingredients that can do both. In case those benefits weren’t enough, anthocyanosides also act as an astringent and minimize the appearance of pores.
Fighting signs of aging isn’t the only superpower in Hibiscus’s arsenal. It’s also a rich source of AHAs. These gentle exfoliators increase cell turnover, reduce breakouts, and brighten the complexion without stripping the skin of its natural oils. They also improve skin’s texture and reduce the appearance of age spots and hyperpigmentation over time.
Finally, Hibiscus has a high mucilage content. Mucilage is a substance created by plants to help them retain water and nutrients. It works as an intense hydrator for skin and improves skin’s ability to retain moisture, resulting in a supple, youthful complexion.
Hibiscus is just one of many hardworking botanicals we use in our products. Clean, potent ingredients are the focus of our formulations, and the results speak for themselves. Incorporate our new Hydrating Petal Cream into your skincare routine and experience the power of Hibiscus for yourself.Continue reading
