When it comes to skin care, sun protection is of the utmost importance and should be a non-negotiable part of your daily ritual. Protecting your skin from harmful UVA/UVB radiation is crucial for both anti-aging and skin cancer prevention. When choosing and applying sunscreen, there are many factors. How much should you apply? How often should you reapply? Which sunscreen is right for you? What is a mineral sunscreen? Dr. Desai: A mineral sunscreen, or a physical sunscreen, is made of either Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. These products sit on the top layer of the skin and reflect harmful UV rays, acting as a barrier between your delicate skin and the damaging effects of the sun. Mineral sunscreens are safe for everyone, even children!
Dr. Desai: “I like to recommend the “3 Finger Method” when applying sunscreen. This means you disperse enough sunscreen to cover 3 fingers. Then you apply that amount to your face and your neck.
