The aromatic sap was traditionally burned as incense and was said to ward off evil spirits and serpents. Native to what is now modern-day Oman, Frankincense became the most lucrative trade in the world until A.D. 400 and made southern Arabia the richest region of the world at the time.

The ancient Egyptians were among the largest consumers of Frankincense, with Queen Hatshepsut organizing the largest trading expedition in the country’s history at the time to open more trade routes and provide better access to the sacred resin. The Egyptians used Frankincense for everything from wound treatments to eyeliner, and unsurprisingly Cleopatra was one of the first to use it as a skin treatment.

Step 1 - Serum

We get asked this all the time...is Luxury Beauty Serum a facial oil or a serum? We have an answer but first let’s start with the difference between a serum and a facial oil. If you find yourself unable to tell the difference, you aren’t alone. The term “serum” has become a general skincare category for any kind of treatment that targets various skin concerns with formulas that vary in texture.

A serum is traditionally a super concentrated, lightweight product that is applied after cleansing/toning but before moisturizer. Because of their fluid or gel-like textures, they absorb easily into the skin to powerfully target skin concerns with concentrated active ingredients. When it comes to facial oils, they are quite a bit different from serums. Oils are richer in texture, and act as an emollient moisturizer. STEP 2: Brighten and depuff under eyes.

STEP 3: An ultra-luxe bath.
