The Best Clean Lipgloss and Why It's Worth the Switch
Lip gloss is one of the most toxic products found in a makeup bag. We’ve all heard and read about the harmful ingredients found in some lip products on the market like lead, carcinogens, mineral oil, and synthetics but what makes these even more toxic is that we put them on our lips. Any product you put on your lips, will be gradually ingested (that’s right, we eat it!) not purposefully, of course, but it’s unavoidable. If you are like us, you swipe on a gloss, balm or lipstick almost daily and re-apply multiple times a day. All this usage can add up to a significant amount of consumption and absorption into our bodies. Your lips are also a thinner tissue so some toxins are absorbed straight away.
When nutritionists and doctors tell us to try and eat natural foods, and to avoid ingredients you can’t pronounce—shouldn’t that also apply to what we put on our skin? The largest organ of our body? We think so. We know it’s hard to part with your cult favorite products and going full non-toxic can be a challenge. If you are going to start somewhere, start with your mouth. Clean beauty has made incredible strides in creating lip formulas that are not only safer, but truly perform.
That’s why when we launched our first lip product, Luxury Lip Shine in 2019, it was essential that the formula was meticulously clean, with good-for-you, results-driven ingredients that were rigorously tested...and that we could pronounce. We turned to powerful florals to infuse every swipe with skin-loving nutrients that act more like a lip treatment, but are still comfortable on the lips, non-sticky, and provide a sheer wash of color.
We are proud to say that our Luxury Lip Shines have 8 non-toxic, vegan, simple but high-performing ingredients: Sunflower Seed Oil, Whole Flower Hemp Extract, Candelilla Wax, Shea Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis, Chamomile Extract, and Grapefruit Seed Extract. These antioxidant-rich ingredients make up our high-shine, silky gloss that glides on effortlessly. Each botanical serves a purpose as skincare for your lips. Sunflower, Chamomile and Aloe are calming while Shea and Jojoba are deeply nourishing.
Beauty editors rave about these special glosses. Luxury Lip Shine was named “Best Clean Lip Gloss” by Women’s Health. “This gloss glides on easily—no goops or globs, promise—and sticks to your lips (instead of your hair). Ingredients like aloe and sunflower act as a softening treatment too.” Meet your new, favorite non toxic lip gloss.
